    LOCATED IN EVERTON PARK

    DEMI PAIR / AU PAIR

    COMMENCING 4 JUNE 2011

A live in position is available for a Demi Pair / Au Pair. This would ideally suit someone already studying English in Brisbane.

The difference between the 2 positions is that a Demi Pair works up to 15 hours a week in exchange for food and board. An Au Pair works between 25 and 30 hours per week and receives food, board + $100 – $150 pocket money.

It is living in Everton Park (a suburb on the north side of Brisbane).
Very close to public transport and shops.

It is with a young family with children aged 7 years (girl), 2 years (boy) and 8 months old (girl). The position would be helping a stay at home mum who is currently in the process of setting up a new business. The father works long hours and travels for work every now and then. The family has traditional roles in that the mum stays at home and the father works. The wife looks after all events inside the house and the father takes care of the yard and property maintenance.

The father works in Edward Street in the City and may be able to assist with transport to and from college if your timetable works in with his work schedule.

The busiest times of the day are in the mornings before school and after school from 3pm onwards. The mother needs help with the baby and toddler so that she can have more time to complete domestic tasks such as cleaning and ironing and setting up the new business.

Your role would be to care for the children: play with them, feed them as required & other duties as requested by the mother. Your main cleaning responsibilities would be looking after the toilet and bathroom that you will share with the children, keeping your room clean and picking up toys (whilst encouraging the children to pick up the toys with you).

It is envisaged that you will act as an extra set of hands for the parents particularly during the chaotic times of day (around 4pm – 7pm).

Some evening & weekend care would be required (hence why Wednesday is a 3/4 day off). Evening care would be for when the parents have to attend meetings at the school, social events or work functions. Evening / weekend care would not always be expected as the Grandma can generally assist with this.

Occassionally cooking and meal preparation / clean up / unloading / packing the dishwasher would be required.

You would have your own fully furnished bedroom. Internet access is included as is food, electricity and board.

You need to be prepared to ‘get your hands dirty’ as the 2 year old boy is a typical outdoors kid and loves to play in his sandpit and do all the other ‘boy’ things.

Wednesdays would be less demanding as the 2 younger ones are at Grandma’s on that day. You will have the day off to do as you choose on a Wednesday.

Hours and duties are negotiable. We can work around study / attending classes etc. We would love to help you learn English / improve your English language skills. We would also be very happy if you would teach our children some words in your own language.

We look forward to learning about your country and to sharing information with you about ours and to taking you places around Brisbane and the surrounds that you might not have been to before. You would be welcome to come with us on any trips away / camping trips that we might do.

Pets: We have 2 dogs (very old) , 5 hens and 4 ducks.
    Swimming Pool: Yes
    Internet: Yes

We are looking for someone to commence as soon as possible. Our current Au Pair (a lovely French girl) is leaving us to travel more around Australia. Further details about the position will be discussed at interview. If you have prior experience with children (especially babies) and you would like to know more about this role, please contact Vanessa.
