Anyway the WHV is not a visa for setting up businesses in Australia – the work isn’t supposed to be the main purpose of your journey to Australia – travelling is supposed to be your first priority and the work is only incidental.
With that being said, as you know you are allowed to work up to 6 months with one employer as per the changes in the law so I would assume you would be able to be self employed for 6 months as well but not longer than that. It’s worth checking with DIAC (the Department of Immigration and Citizenship) when you arrive to Australia.
There are other visas that you may wish to consider that don’t limit your working rights or your ability to set up a successful business in Australia – through the Skilled or Business migration categories.
