Bonjour,

Je suis en australie sous un visa etudiant. Il y a trois semaine j ai fait une demande de permit de travail pour ce visa etudiant et lorsque je vais sur le site DIMIA on dirait que mon application est bloquée il indique « Processing commenced » depuis 3 semaines. quel est le délai moyen?

De plus je souhaite savoir si il est possible de prolonger mon sejour ici apres expiration de mon visa en demandant un visa tourist. Ou sortir du pays demander une ETA et revenir.

J’ai aussi un visa étudiant et ma demande pour l’autorisation de travailler n’avait pris que quelques jours si je me souviens bien (j’ai fait ma demande y a presqu’un an)

As tu pensé à demander à ton établissement d’envoyer une notification à l’immigration pour prouver que tu es bien étudiant?

Bah oui j ai fait remplir le documents par les profs et tout. Et j ai toujours pas de réponse. c’est plus que long et le probleme c’est qu ils sont pas joignable. J ai bien tenter d’appeler le 131881 mais tous les operateurs sont toujours occupés. sans parler du prix que cela coute pour rien. Bref je sais pas trop quoi faire me déplacer au bureau surement. L’administration peut importe le pays c’est pas les plus efficaces.

What visa subclass do you currently hold, and what are the conditions attached to your visa? You can find this out by reading your visa label:

If you have a condition 8503 attached to your visa, then you cannot apply for a further tourist visa while you remain in Australia.

I don’t have a visa printed on my passport. It s an student e visa. However I read the e-mail they sent me and I can’t see the condition 8503 so I guess I can ask for a further stay as a tourist

Salut baybay,

Je me pose exactement la mm question que toi. J’ai également un e-visa etudiant et une fois mes études terminées (juin), je souhaiterais prolonger mon séjour avec un autre visa. Mais plus en tant qu’étudiant cette fois.
Je n’ai aucune idée de ce qu’il faut faire lol.

Dans le mail reçu du service d’immigration, ils disent: « Any further stay in Australia must be authorised by the grant of a further visa. »
Donc on peut effectivement prolonger, mais ptete uniquement avec un nouveau visa étudiant…

Bref si t’as des infos, ca serait sympa de les poster ici 🙂
Mais pr un vista touristique ou work/holiday, je pense pas que ce soit possible, il faut faire la demande dans ton pays d’origine.

Si vous voulez savoir les conditions de votre visa, allez à

and follow the link to the EVO. This will tell you what conditions are attached to your visa. Sorry, my French ability stops after 1 line 🙁

I am assuming that you have applied for a subclass 573 visa.

I am pleased to advise that you have successfully been assessed against
OFFSHORE Non-award Sector (Web) (TU 575) and your electronic application for a
Student (Temporary)(Class TU) visa has been approved.

Does that mean that I m holding a subclass 575. Anyway can I apply while in australia for a further stay as a tourist i dont think i have the no further stay condition as it s not in the e mail they sent me. I cant use the EVO cause i dont know my password.

Mreover, i applied one month ago for a permission to work and when i check online my status it is still « processing commenced » is it normal? how can i get info about that? i tried to call them but all the operators were busy.

Then, i d like to stay in australia what visa can i try to get givin that i dont have 2 years work experience i guess i cant apply for a permanent residence. I ve already used my working holiday visa….

View from my window, it is practically impossible to change the terms of your visa…. moreso if you hold a student visa…
If you visa is due to expire soon.. i think you would need a bridging visa class B so that you can stay for a while pending your new applicaiton is being processed by diac…
Peter is most competent in those processes…
C’est clair que les procedures liees a l’immigration Australienne sont extremement compliquees surtout si on ne connait pas grand chose au systeme.
Pour ta gouverne, il y a au moins une cinquantaine de categorie de visa et dans certains cas ils sont complementaires..
Le visa le plus populaire et connu comme le Skilled Independant Sub-Class 136. Pour etre eligible; il te faudra atteindre 120 points suivant des criteres bien etablis…

Yes, the passage you have quoted seems to indicate that you now hold a subclass 575 visa.

Condition 8053 which bars a visa holder from applying for a further visa onshore in Australia is a possible condition for a subclass 575 visa, therefore I cannot conclusively say whether you are able to apply for a new visa while in Australia.

From what I see, it will be difficult for a 575 visa holder to have any real pathway to permanent residence via the General Skilled Migration scheme.

What do your normal/usual occupation and qualification(s)?

Yeah that s what I thought.
I got a french bachelor degree in business administration, marketing. I tried to see how many points I d get but my problem is that I dont have a 2 year work experience as I just graduated. So I can’t get 120.
What are the other options? employer sponsored is the only one i reckon, given that i dont have family in australia :'( :'(

Concerning my further stay if i cant apply for a further stay as a visitor. Can i just go to new zealand, apply for an ETA on the internet and come back to australia? I just wanna stay here in august to visit. even if i cant get a job and stay more in the country.

what I mean is my student visa ends on the 1st august so I fly to NZ on the 30th visit NZ for a week apply for an ETA while over there then come back in australia.

But I d really like to stay here several years get a job and stuff.It s a pity australian immigration laws are so though

Il y a quelque chose que je n’ai pas bien compris dans ton truc. J’avais le sentiment que tu venais de commencer tes etudes et que tu avais besoin d’une autorisation pour bosser à mi-temps.
A present tu précises que ton visa expire le 01.08.2007. Est ce que la durée de tes etudes est de 6 mois – Est tu un Exchange Student?

Je pense effectivement que tu peux te faire sponsoriser pour un Temporary Business (Long Stay) – Standard Business Sponsorship (Subclass 457) visa qui te donnera le droit de travailler entre 3 mois et ce jusqu’a un maximum de 4 ans.
Cependant tu devras quiter le pays au moment du ‘’grant’’ du visa.

Pour le ETA subclass 976; du moment que tu as quitté le territoire Australien, tu peux en faire la demande ou que tu te trouves pour un multiple entry. Tu n’auras pas le droit de travailler par contre ni faire des etudes d’une durée de plus de 3 mois.

oui c’est ca je suis un exchange student.

Mon voeux numero 1 serait de rester en australie quelques temps pour y travailler.

Mon voeux numero 2 si je ne trouve pas de moyen de rester pour travailler est juste de rester au mois d’aout pour visiter.

Quand a mon autorisation de travail a mi temps je l ai demandé il y a un mois et quand je vais sur le site pour verifier le status de mon application c’est toujours sur « processing commenced » alors je ne sais pas ce qu il se passe

Je t’ai cite deux et je suis d’avis qu’il y e a d’autres; tel qu’un nouveau student visa pour des metiers en demande ou une application skilled independent 136…

Toute poursuite d’etude m’est impossible a cause des frais de scolarité prohibitifs. Et puis sincerement, une université ne vaut certainement pas 8000 dollars le semestre je trouve que c’est du vol. J ai eu la chance d etre exchange et donc de ne pas payer mais seulement pour un semestre. Ensuite pour le skilled independent 136 demandent il deux ans d’experience professionelle? Car je n ai pas encore d experience professionnelle dans le domaine de mes etudes, je suis toujours etudiant.

Pour la visa 457, vous pouvez être en Australie ou overseas.

There is no skills assessment needed for the 457, unlike the skilled visa process.

It is so complicated to get a comprehensive overview of the possibilities.

So far I just know that I cant apply for a skilled one because I dont have professional experience.
I cant apply for a working holiday cause already used and not elligible for a second one.
And for a student visa I need a ridiculous amount of money to pay the tuition fees…

Yea I know that.
But they are often expensive and I dont think I can ask for a skilled visa anyway. So I guess the only thing I can do is find a job that would sponsor me.And RMA cant find me a job 🙂

I’ve assessed people for a very low initial fee for skilled visas, or generally exploring visa options for French people in Australia – not every RMA is a blood-sucker (hope you know what this means).

I’ve also advised a French national for the price of a cup of coffee – perhaps I was very thirsty then 🙂

Est-ce que tu sais qu’en dehors des etudes UNI; tu peux très bien faire des etudes VOCATIONELLES avec à la clé un métier qui t’ouvrira grandes les portes d’une immigration permanent en Australie.
Et évidemment moins cher; probablement le tiers de ce que tu as avancé comme montant de tuition fees.

Oui j essayais de voir les TAFE ca a l air moins cher que la fac. C’est sur je pourrais toujours me reconvertir. La fac en tout cas c’est du vol. 8000 dollars le semestre pour un master. De plus je ne trouve pas que le niveau soit forcement exceptionnel. Ce que je fais la n’a rien de plus que ce que j ai fait en france.

De quel type de formation parles tu?

Australian migration law is a very complex area, so it’s not something to feel stupid about when you can’t find all the options available to you by yourself.

Most registered migration agents may also not know all aspects of migration law, and I certainly don’t claim to know it all. I specialize in my domain of « comfort » and I believe no one agent knows everything.

How low is low? I have a fixed fee for an initial assessment if you are an IT professional as stated http://www.ptlabs.com.au/assessment.html

For all other occupations and situations, I ask people to first email me. If I cannot help them because this is not an area I practise in (e.g. I do not take refugee cases), there will be no charge as there will be no services rendered.
