J'ai déjà envoyé pas mal de mails directement à des wineries pour bosser en tant que assistant-winemaker ou simplement cellar-hand, mais reste sans réponse. Je compte pourtant bien arriver en australie autour du 24 février. Sauriez-vous si des annonces de jobs dans le vin se diffusent dans melbourne pour bosser dans la Yarra valley (par exemple). Les démarches pour trouver un job m'ont l'air assez compliquées de france, mais les vendanges arrivent...
Donc si par hasard quelqu'un avait des infos, ça serait super méga cool de me les faire passer.

C'est aussi possible quelquefois pour des Woofers (wwoof.com.au) de travaille dans les wineries organiques pour avoir plus d'experience (c'est pas paye).

essaie aussi Orlando/Pernod Ricard, ils ont des wineries avec des francais qui y bossent du cote de la Barrossa au nord d Adelaide. a moins que tu ne veuilles rester a tout prix du cote de Melbourne.

For those with wine industry experience, I discovered something interesting yesterday when I went on a tour of the Victorian Pyrenees (a small but quite rapidly developing wine region 2 hours from Melbourne).

Upon visiting this famous and large vineyard and accommodation resort,

.....I discovered that they actually each year search for a French or Italian wine maker to come to their vineyard and work with them for 3 months as part of the student's studies and experience for both sides.....they already have one for this year, but I spoke to one of the guys in charge of the cellar and he seemed to think they might possibly be interested if any other serious Frenchies were interested in picking or something during the harvest coming up....though the town is only small and there's not a lot of budget accommodation apart from a caravan park and maybe the pub....and it seems like you'd still need to have a rather good resume (to be in with a chance to do/see a little more than just harvest work).

I thought of you guys as it's a quite famous luxury winery (exporting to a lot of countries - luxury end of the market), but though the winery is large, its owners are Italian and carry out most work rather traditionally - all the picking and pruning is done by hand.

On the other hand, they don't get many international workers here because it's a few kms from town and you'd need your own transport to get around - and you'd need to be willing to live in a small, typical country aussie town 50 mins drive from the nearest city....a town of only a few hundred people....but one advantage could be it does look like the Pyrenees in Europe and petanque is really big here (biggest petaque club in Australia apart from the National championships). Part of the main street of Avoca, the closest town, is made up of several long petanque pistes, and most of the other wineries in the area also have them.

If you would like some more info about the town/region, it's probably best to email me before you contact the winery (and only contact them directly if you're really serious and have some experience).
