vivre un an à Melbourne

On a reçu une proposition pour partir vivre au moins un an à Melbourne. laura y aura un boulot, mais pas Ludo. On se demande donc qu'est-ce qu'il y a de chouette à faire à Melbourne quand on ne travaille pas et qu'on n'a pas envie d'étudier? Comment sont les habitants? Est-ce qu'il fait vraiment froid en hiver? Bref on aimerait se faire une idée avant de partir histoire de ne pas le regretter une fois sur place. On a déjà vécu 3 mois à Sydney. C'est kif? Quels sont les points communs/différences entre ces deux villes?

Look, I live in Elwood (Melbourne inner suburb) and one of my best french mates are a couple of french guys, where the guys works (4-year relocation offer by his french company) whereas the girl is now looking for a job !
And as far as I know, they look and sound very happy with what they are living right now.

You have an amazing opportunity to discover this country while at least of of you will be working ! So take it, especially in Melbourne which has been elected the most liveable city in the world for the past 2 years... so it says what it says !!!!!!
it's a lovely city, half European, half Asian/American.
You've got many activities and things to see in and around Melbourne. The people are probably (not lying mate) the nicest across all Australia !!! Really easy-going and open people in Melbourne.
Climate: in winter, the temps can go down to 5 degrees but generally speaking winter is OK, it doesn't snow in Melbourne, only in the mountains at the border of the NSW. It's more wet than in Sydney BUT the weather is dry, not humid and sticky like in Sydney !!

Sydney is more a cosmopolitean city whereas Melbourne is all about culture, cafes, education, arts, sports (F1, tennis, cricket, footy). Places like the Great Ocean Rd, the Grampians, Wilson Prom, Torquay, the Dandenong Ranges, the Yarra Valley are some of the must-do's.

Mates, i've been living down here for 16months and i'm really happy with what Melbourne has brought to me.

Fred a raison, Melbourne est hyper sympa...
Je n'ai pas travaille durant les 6 premiers mois de mon arrivee, mais je ne me suis jamais ennuyee. C'est tres culturel, y'a tjs des trucs a voir, les cafes sont sympas, et les gens adorables.
En hiver, Fred t'exageres, il fait pas 5 degres !!! L'hiver dernier on n'est pas descendus en dessous de 10 degres. Par contre attendez-vous a des surprises au niveau temperatures. 4 saisons en une journee, thats true what they say
Bref, une city tres sympa pour vivre.

Choop is right, last winter was really good actually, mild and not too much of rain ... but the one before (in 2003) was pretty disgusting ... a lot weter and colder.

Yep Choop, i'm now trying to write most of my post and msgs in english and using some nice and well-known Aussie slangs... but it's weird to use them in writing as most of the time you speak "strine" but not "write" it.

what about you .... how've you been up to ?

Well i'm pretty good actually...
Just cruising, still working and lookin forward to a nice trip home in august. Didnt have any free time to catch up with frenchies down under lately as I just got a silly season with work, but i'm planning that soon... how about you ? still working for PM ? Hows your life going here ?

Oui c'est vrai il faudra qu'il trouve une activité. c'est un fan de didjeridoo, il en fait un peu. Peut-être qu'il trouvera des cours de didjeridoo à Melbourne. Il y a des aborigènes dans le coin?
